Description from the seller
PALM SPRINGS
95 × 70 cm
Acrylic on canvas · 2026
Palm Springs represents the facade of a house surrounded by tall palm trees and lush vegetation, organized through a frontal composition with great geometric balance. The green shutters, the yellow-and-white striped awning, and the pool in the foreground build a scene that recalls modern residential architecture of warm regions, where water, shade, and vegetation are essential parts of the everyday landscape.
The work is articulated around large blocks of color and a pronounced contrast between the warm tones of the facade and the deep blues of the shadows and the water. The yellow inflatables introduce a playful note that breaks the solemnity of the architecture and adds a domestic, summery dimension. More than documenting a specific place, the painting synthesizes an imaginary associated with leisure, light, and outdoor life, transforming it into a composition of intense chromatic presence.
PROJECTION AND VALUE OF THE WORK
Palm Springs is part of Mar Legón’s series of architectural landscapes, where the artist investigates the relationship between modern architecture, nature, and color. The simplification of forms, the use of restrained perspectives, and the construction of large chromatic masses allow each element to acquire an almost iconic character.
Completely handmade in 2026, this unique piece reflects one of the artist’s most recognizable lines of recent production: scenes inspired by contemporary architectures and reinterpretations of resting spaces through a vibrant palette that prioritizes visual emotion over literal representation. The work combines compositional clarity, formal balance, and a chromatic identity that defines her painting language.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Mar Legón develops a painting practice focused on reinterpretation of landscapes, interiors, still lifes, and figurative scenes through a visual language based on color, formal synthesis, and atmosphere construction.
Her work transforms spaces and recognizable motifs into images of strong visual intensity, where reality is simplified and reorganized to give rise to scenes that oscillate between memory, imagination, and contemplation.
