Description from the seller
Yellow Cushion
100 × 70 cm
Acrylic on canvas · 2026
Yellow Cushion presents an open balcony toward a Mediterranean coastal landscape where architecture, vegetation and the sea integrate in a composition of great visual balance. In the foreground, a wicker armchair with a yellow cushion occupies the contemplative space, while a blue door open leads the gaze toward the bay, the mountains and a small set of white houses resting by the water. Above the façade, a tree laden with fruit introduces an organic counterpoint that envelops the scene.
The painting is constructed through an intense relationship between blues, greens, violets and oranges, generating a luminous atmosphere where color defines both the architecture and the landscape. The composition combines interior and exterior elements to create an image that invites contemplation, transforming a simple domestic corner into an open space toward the horizon and the experience of the landscape.
PROJECTION AND VALUE OF THE WORK
Yellow Cushion forms part of Mar Legón's research on interiors opened to the landscape, a line of work in which architecture serves as a frame to explore the relationship between inhabited space and the natural environment. The artist simplifies forms and uses color as the main compositional resource, building scenes where light and visual structure take on a leading role.
Entirely handmade in 2026, this unique piece gathers some of the most characteristic features of her recent production: a vibrant color palette, carefully organized perspectives, and a pictorial language that synthesizes reality without losing its evocative capacity. The work establishes a dialogue between the tradition of the Mediterranean landscape and a contemporary interpretation based on the intensity of color and clarity of composition.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Mar Legón develops a pictorial practice focused on reinterpretation of landscapes, interiors, still lifes and figurative scenes through a visual language based on color, formal synthesis and atmosphere construction.
Her work transforms spaces and recognizable motifs into images of strong visual intensity, where reality is simplified and reorganized to give rise to scenes that oscillate between memory, imagination and contemplation.
