Antique glass spectacles made in the Netherlands, dating to about 1900–1910, in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear, featuring round lenses, a tortoiseshell frame, a saddle bridge and cable temples, supplied with a velvet-lined case.
Description from the seller
Authentic antique or vintage eyeglasses (often referred to as 'panto' or 'Windsor' style) from the first half of the 20th century, probably dating from 1900-1930
Did my great-grandfather, who lived in Laren, North Holland, wear them before the war
Glasses: In good condition, eyeglass case with velvet lining on the back and some signs of wear
Features: The glasses have distinctive round lenses and a frame with a tortoiseshell pattern and a classic saddle bridge, with no brand name
Earpieces: The flexible, spiral-shaped stems are called 'cable temples'. This type of stem was designed to keep the glasses securely on the head during movement and is an iconic detail of early spectacles from that era
Collection: Similar pieces are often found in historical military gear or in museums as representative of early eyewear fashion
Case size: approximately L 14 x W 6 x D 1.8 cm
As with any old item, there may be signs of wear and minor imperfections
