About the artist:

Ana Ríos Palomo (Seville, Spain, 2001) is a Spanish emerging artist specializing in oil painting. A graduate in Fine Arts from the University of Seville, she develops an artistic production in which traditional painting dialogues with a contemporary sensibility, exploring themes such as spirituality, contemplation, and the symbolic dimension of the landscape.

She has participated in exhibitions organized by the University of Seville and in various poster and illustration projects. She continues to develop her artistic career through the creation and sale of original works, with international collectors in countries such as the United States, the Netherlands, Italy, and Hong Kong.

Her painting is characterized by a constant search for silent beauty and by the use of light as an expressive element, inviting the viewer to an aesthetic experience that transcends mere representation of the landscape.

Contrastes is a contemporary portrait with marked chromatic intensity in which Ana Ríos Palomo explores the relationship between identity, bond, and emotional expression through the depiction of a couple.

The composition centers on two figures who appear closely united, occupying almost the entire surface of the canvas. The man, in the foreground and slightly above the woman, directs his gaze toward the viewer with a serene expression, while she stands beside him with a wide smile that introduces a dimension of closeness, vitality, and complicity. Their physical proximity makes the portrait not only a representation of individuals but also of the bond between two people.

The title, Contrastes, finds its most evident expression in the painting's chromatic language. On a luminous blue background, the artist builds the faces and figures through an intense interaction of blues, blacks, grays, whites, and oranges. Blue dominates much of the surface, contributing depth and cohesion, while the orange lines and areas function as a powerful visual force that defines the silhouettes and makes the characters emerge from the background.

This opposition between cool and warm tones also extends to the construction of the figures themselves. Dark areas coexist with luminous brushstrokes and color accents that model the faces without resorting to strictly naturalistic representation.
