Description from the seller
Walter Gerhards KG (attributed) – Large ceramic vase jug "240/26" – West Germany, 1970s
Designer/Manufacturer: Walter Gerhards KG (attributed)
Model: 240/26
Material: Glazed ceramic
Origin: Germany (West Germany)
Era: 1970–1979
A large and exceptionally decorative ceramic vase jug from the classic West German period.
The striking form with the elegantly curved handle, the sculpted decorative bands, and the vivid turquoise Craquelé glaze correspond to well-known models attributed to Walter Gerhards. The impressed model number 240/26 matches this model series.
Particularly impressive is the intense turquoise glaze with its fine Craquelé and vibrant color nuances. The detailed close-up shots in the photos best reproduce the color.
Thanks to the sculpted decorative bands and harmonious proportions, the jug possesses an unusually strong decorative effect and is a typical example of high-quality West German ceramic art from the 1970s.
The occasionally visible small pale spots are original firing- or glaze-related manufacturing marks where the glaze did not fully flow during firing. They are not chips or damage, but manufacturing characteristics.
