Día de Pesca, oil on canvas by the Escuela de Barbizon, dating from the 19th century, a naturalistic landscape of European origin, 61 × 80 cm, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
Title: Fishing Day
School: Barbizon School, 19th century
Style: Naturalistic landscape painting with Romantic influences
Technique: Oil on canvas
Circle and artistic influences: Work linked to the Barbizon School artistic milieu, close to the landscapes of Théodore Rousseau, Jules Dupré, and Charles-François Daubigny. The monumentality of the mountains and the evocative atmosphere also reveal influences of Central European Romantic landscape.
The work depicts a peaceful fishing day in a mountainous rural setting. In the foreground several figures appear along the riverbank, some of them engaged in fishing. In the background a peasant building stands among trees, animals and small figures that add life to the composition.
The rocky elevations dominate the horizon and create a strong sense of depth. The palette of earth tones, dark greens, grays and ochres, along with the soft light of the sky, creates a serene and slightly melancholic atmosphere. Human presence is integrated into nature, a habitual feature of 19th-century naturalistic landscape painting.
The work is presented with a carved wooden frame, finished in golden and brown tones, with stepped profiles and a dark inner strip. It shows signs of age and wear in keeping with its era.
Notes: Presents restorations, minor losses, and signs typical of the passage of time.
Dimensions:
With frame: 61 × 80 cm.
Without frame: 49 × 69 cm.
The work may suffer damage during transport even with proper packaging. In that case, photographs of the defects will be required to proceed with compensation. The customer’s satisfaction is always our priority.
Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by surcharges due to reasons such as being outside a continental territory, excess dimensions, or weight of the item. PremiArt will not cover this surcharge under any circumstances.
Due to border issues with Switzerland, we are obliged to inform customers that shipments with a length or height over 1 meter to that destination will not be carried out.
Because of the high volume of shipments, orders may be delayed by more than three days, for which we apologize and thank you for your patience. If you have any questions about your order, please contact us via internal messaging.
