Artist
Carlo Domenici (1898–1981)
Italian artist, born in Livorno, active in a cultural environment closely tied to the Tuscan painting tradition and to the subsequent developments of the Macchiaioli school (Italian artist of the Livorno post-Macchiaioli tradition, with affinities to the impressionist sensibility in the rendering of light and color).
Title of the work
Armenti al pascolo.
Year / period
Dating uncertain.
The work is presumably referable to the first half of the 20th century, in a period coherent with the artist’s production, characterized by landscapes and views tied to the Livorno and Tuscan tradition. Domenici’s painting shows elements connected to the post-Macchiaioli sensibility, with particular attention to light, atmospheric effects, and the construction of the image through color masses.
