This drawing is attributed to Arno Breker (1900–1991), a German sculptor and draftsman who became internationally known for his monumental, neoclassical oeuvre. In addition to his sculptures Breker produced a large number of drawings and studies in which his exceptional mastery of anatomy, proportion and line work is clearly evident.

The work is characterized by an academic approach to the human figure, with a strong emphasis on form, volume and light–shadow rendering. The composition aligns with the classical tradition and reflects the influence of Greek and Roman sculpture, which formed an important source of inspiration for the artist.
