Description from the seller

A finely balanced Chawan by Shinsaku Hamada, one of the leading figures of modern Mashiko pottery and the son and artistic successor of the Living National Treasure Shōji Hamada.

This tea bowl displays an elegant, gently flaring form with exceptional proportions. The softly toned ivory-white glaze is complemented by a striking textured surface created through the interaction of slip, glaze, and firing, giving the exterior a rich tactile quality while maintaining a calm and refined interior. The subtle crackle (kannyū) and warm Mashiko stoneware body beautifully embody the aesthetic principles of the Mingei tradition.
The bowl is unsigned, which is consistent with many authentic tea bowls by Shinsaku Hamada. It is accompanied by the original signed and sealed tomobako.

Condition: Excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or repairs.
