Circle and artistic influences: Work linked to the aesthetic environment of the Barbizon School, with influences from French landscape painting by Camille Corot, Théodore Rousseau, and Charles-François Daubigny. The pastoral theme also recalls Jean-François Millet's interest in rural life.

Rural landscape with a vertical composition in which an extensive rural plain is depicted under a cloudy, atmospheric sky. In the foreground, the dark tones of vegetation and ground predominate, while several trees of stylized height structure the scene and direct the gaze toward the distance. In the middle ground, small shepherds and animals are discreetly integrated into the landscape, with low hills closing the horizon.

The work presents a sober palette of greens, ochres, grays, and muted blues. The loose brushwork and contained lighting reinforce the sense of quiet and authenticity typical of Barbizon-influenced painting.

Antique wooden gold frame, of considerable width, decorated with continuous reliefs of vegetal motifs and scrolls. It shows a dark patina that highlights the ornamentation, as well as slight wear and small losses in keeping with its age.

Observations: It has undergone restorations. The canvas and the frame may show signs of aging, wear, and small faults typical of a 19th-century work.
