18 kt red gold men's ring with ~14 ct color-changing sapphire – Egypt
This impressive vintage men's ring is crafted from solid 18-karat red gold and forms a beautiful example of Egyptian goldsmithing. The robust, open-worked shoulders give the ring a powerful yet elegant look, while the warm tone of the red gold perfectly contrasts with the imposing central sapphire.
Centred is a large round sapphire set in a cleanly finished bezel setting. The stone measures approximately 16 × 16 × 8 mm, corresponding to an estimated weight of about 14 ct. The sapphire is superbly cut with excellent symmetry and a fine light reflection. In normal daylight the stone shows a deep purple-violet color. Under blue light the color clearly shifts to blue, fitting a color-changing sapphire. A GemTester identifies the stone as sapphire. The natural or synthetic origin of the stone has not been determined and is therefore sold without warranty.
The ring bears Egyptian 18-karat marks and is in very good vintage condition, with only light signs of wear appropriate for its age.
