Description from the seller
Sedia Savonarola – Italy, 1960s – Carved wood and velvet upholstered seat
Splendid Italian Savonarola chair dating from the 1960s, a refined piece of furniture that reinterprets, in a twentieth-century key, one of the most iconic models of the Italian Renaissance tradition. The elegant folding scissor frame is embellished with rich carved work, sculpted volutes, and a backrest decorated with a central cartouche, details that give the seat a dramatic presence with great charm.
Made of solid wood with a warm finish and well preserved, it is completed by a padded seat covered in ochre velvet, finished with refined ornamental braid. The whole creates a perfect balance between classical elegance and vintage taste, making this chair ideal both as a furnishing element and as a collector’s piece.
The Savonarola, also known as the “Lola” chair, has long been appreciated for its sculptural silhouette and the extraordinary ability to enhance any environment: a study, a living room, a prestigious foyer, or a library. It is an object that blends functionality, history, and strong decorative value.
The piece is presented in generally good condition, with normal, light signs of wear compatible with its age, which attest to its authenticity and use. The frame is solid and stable, while the seat retains a pleasing aesthetic appearance.
An authentic piece of Italian design and cabinetry from the 20th century, capable of enriching with character both classical interiors and contemporary spaces, thanks to its timeless style.
The item will be carefully packed with professional materials to ensure maximum protection during transit and will be shipped with trackable service throughout Europe.
