19 lacquered black Makie confectionery plates with Tomobako - Japan - Late Taisho Period (1912 - 1868)

Plate size: 3.2 cm x 11.2 cm x 11.2 cm
Tomobako size: 27.8 cm x 13.8 cm x 21.4 cm

The edges and sides of the plates show some very light lacquer loss and small discreet marks - see photos

This means that the piece was made by craftsman Endō Kaichi and dated to an auspicious day in December 1913 (2nd year of the Taisho era). The Japanese expression “Kichijitsu” (吉日) denotes an auspicious day rather than a precise date.
