Description from the seller
VMP is a Spanish visual artist, doctor in art and research, whose practice combines contemporary figurative painting with experimentation in film and animation. Numerous awards and selections support a consolidated and recognized artistic career.
This original piece of 120 x 86 cm, created in 2026, is a figurative study in which an internal system of codes is built, but they are not used to symbolize mental states, stories, or messages. They are governing laws of painting operation, not keys to allegorical reading. The painting is not organized to “say something” beyond itself, but to show how a figure is held, how color closes a space, how gesture is registered on the surface. The codes it configures (repetition of motifs, certain light, certain compositional rigidity, type of gaze) are visual playing rules, not keys for emotional or narrative interpretation.
In this case the title alludes to the Three Graces, but it is actually a reinterpretation of a painting made more than 20 years ago. In its time it was very successful, and from time to time I revisit the past with considerable joy.
It is proposed that the viewer confront the painting as an object with its own internal laws, rather than looking behind it for a confession, a trauma, or a personal story. It is not denied that the viewer may read metaphors, but it is rejected that the practice be driven by the obligation to produce them. The interest does not reside in encoding a hidden world, but in explicitly organizing the visible world.
This painting is oil on premium cotton. 100% raw cotton canvas, which I have primed myself with Lefranc & Bourgeois gesso, 120 x 86 cm, surface ready to be framed though there is extra canvas to facilitate handling. All materials used are of first quality. I start painting with acrylic and finish with glazes of Liquin and oil; it contains gold leaf, gold oil, silver, and some gold enamels. The shipment is sent ONLY with the canvas rolled, protected with bubble wrap and cardboard or a rigid support, ensuring its proper conservation during transport.
