'Courage' presents a stoic and regal figure, rendered in a sophisticated monochrome palette that is masterfully punctuated by vibrant golden accents. The subject, a man with a full beard and intensely focused gaze, exudes an aura of ancient wisdom and silent power.

A defining feature of the piece is the ornate golden calligraphy gracefully flowing along the figure's neck. The script spells out "Andreia" (ἀνδρεία), the ancient Greek word for masculinity, manliness, and courage. This linguistic detail transforms the portrait into a symbolic exploration of virtue, suggesting that the figure's strength is rooted in both physical presence and moral character.

Hollow Ink is a London-based urban contemporary artist, born in 1995, whose work explores the connection between calligraphy, abstraction and spiritual expression. Working across multiple mediums, Hollow Ink blends influences from street culture, islamic and gothic calligraphy and modern urban art to create pieces driven by movement, symbolism and emotion.
With a strong focus on experimentation and meaning, the artist approaches each work as both a visual study and a reflection of inner thought, using layered forms and expressive mark-making to explore the relationship between chaos, identity and spirituality. Inspired by the transformative power of art, Hollow Ink continues to develop a distinctive visual language rooted in both raw energy and introspection.
