A stunning antique glove box featuring an extraordinary, vibrant interior. Estimated to date from the late Victorian of French Napoleon III era (circa late 19th to early 20th century), this elegant piece was originally used to store a lady's fine evening gloves, today is now perfect as a luxury jewelry box, watch case, or vanity statement piece.
The Interior: Original cherry-red satin/silk lined with the luxurious French capitonné (tufted) technique. Exceptionally well-preserved, bright, and plump. Excellent antique condition. Silk is remarkably clean, bright, and intact.
The Exterior: Mustard-brown textured finish with an authentic antique patina, subtle stamped borders, and a central brass keyhole (no key). Good antique condition of exterior with charming, honest wear, scuffs, and edge rubbing, consistent with the age of the item.
The understated, rustic exterior makes the explosion of rich red silk inside a true experience when opened.
The original hinges are strong, aligned, and work smoothly.
