Wim Bos (1906-1974) - Botter op stoom

Willem (Wim) Bos was a Dutch painter, draftsman and watercolorist. He was self-taught. He lived and worked in Rotterdam, Brussels, Hamburg, Nijmegen, Antwerp and Paris. In 1924 Bos returned to Rotterdam. In Rotterdam he drew inspiration from the loading and unloading activities in the harbours and the sight of the sea ships there.

Bos painted, drew and worked in watercolors in addition to harbour scenes also puddle views. His harbour scenes breathe the distinctive atmosphere of the pre-war harbours, with steamships, loading booms and cranes, steam whistles and rattling anchor chains.
