Lying on the sand, she lifts her glasses with a finger and looks the viewer straight in the face. The golden bodice, steel bracelets, the rope coiled near the hip: the full gear of the amazon, laid over an opulent, generous, utterly calm body. Behind her, the blue sea and the foam, painted in broad smooth planes.
The canvas pushes the principle of the collection to its sunniest point. Where the first painting established the hero in urban fatigue, this one returns him to seaside voluptuousness — the warrior on vacation, sovereign and unashamed. The direct gaze, the hint of a smile, and the ring on the finger complete the shift from icon to portrait: it is no longer a character, it is someone.

BOLERO is one of the creations bringing together the artists Le Yack, Neo Pablo and Popsan within Atelier Joconde, a family studio where three sensibilities coexist: neo-realism, pop, and free figuration. Under the name BOLEROL, the Atelier explores stylized nudity in the manner of Mexican modernity: monochrome bodies in saturated flat areas, full and sculptural forms, backgrounds of pure color, the grave serenity of faces.
BOLERO takes up the grammar of the masters of South American volume — smooth and swollen modeling, rosy carnations, even lighting without theatrical shadow — and turns it against the iconography of the modern hero. The mask remains, the chin doubles as well. The entire charge of the painting lies in this gap: the overman’s outfit worn by an everyday body, in a banal consumer setting that everyone recognizes. Neither caricature nor mockery — an ironic tenderness for the heroic figure returned to fatigue..
