Platter - Porcelain - Capodimonte-style

A beautiful and richly decorated porcelain terrine (dish with lid / bonbonnière) in the distinctive Baroque Capodimonte style.

The object is adorned all around with a detailed high relief depicting playful cherubim and putti in a mythological garden.

The lid fits snugly and is crowned by a handle in the shape of a seated child (putto). The terrine rests on three gracefully shaped feet and is finished with hand-painted polychrome colors and lavish gilded rims and accents.

This type of object was originally intended as a centerpiece for the dining table or in the sideboard.

It comes from Italy and dates from the mid-20th century (circa 1950 - 1970)
