Tauritari - Le Masque et le Brasier

This striking and philosophical work, painted with a technique that reacts to ultraviolet (UV) light, is a powerful allegory on the duality of humanity and its destructive hypocrisy.
​At the heart of the composition, a primate, our ancestor, embodies the evolution of consciousness. Its face is split in two by color, reflecting its eternal dilemma. The left half, bathed in a cold cosmic blue, symbolizes reason, technological progress, and the mask of civilization. The right half, however, is devoured by a blazing and passionate orange, representing primal instincts, uncontrolled passions, and the destructive nature.
​In its hands, the primate holds two objects that respond to each other tragically:
​On the left: The Mask. He holds it at a distance, as if hesitating to wear it. It is the public face, the façade of virtue and peace that humanity presents to the world, a mask of reason.
​On the right: The Earth on fire. The other hand supports our planet, which is catching fire. It is the hidden reality, the result of hypocrisy: a world consumed by conflicts, exploitation and blind progress, masked by the façade of civilization.
