Candleholder - Copper - 31 cm

Antique copper Chanukiah (a special nine-armed menorah) used during the Jewish Hanukkah festival. Characteristics of this object Number of arms: The candelabrum has a total of 9 candle holders. Eight arms rise in a symmetric arc at the same height. The Shamash: The ninth holder is central, in the middle, directly beneath the Star of David. This is the shamash (the serving candle), with which the other eight candles are lit successively. Material and form: It is made of solid copper or brass with a distinctive aged patina. The base has a traditional octagonal shape. Dating: This type of model with the geometric, stepped octagonal base and the Star of David top is a common European model dating from the late 19th century to the first half of the 20th century.
