This vintage SEIKO ship clock is one of the rarest maritime timepieces you will ever find for sale. It is a genuine double-sided corner clock — a set of two clock faces combined in a single triangular unit — originally built in Japan and installed on large cargo ships and supertankers during the 1970s and 1980s. At 2 kg of solid steel with its original pale green paint, it is heavy, bold, and completely authentic. Nothing about this clock is reproduced or faked.

A Genuine Piece of Maritime History
This is an authentic antique SEIKO slave clock, salvaged directly from a working commercial vessel. SEIKO manufactured these triangular double-sided clocks specifically for use on large Japanese tankers and cargo ships from the 1970s through to the late 1980s. The triangular shape was not decorative — it was practical. The shape allowed these clocks to be bolted into the corners of passageways, cabins, and engine rooms, where sailors and crew could read the time clearly from two different directions at the same time.
Originally, each of these units was a “slave clock” — meaning it did not run independently. Instead, it was electrically connected to a single master clock in the captain’s cabin. When the ship crossed into a new time zone, the captain updated the master clock, and every slave clock on board changed automatically. It was a brilliant system of precision timekeeping across an entire vessel. Finding a complete, original double-unit in this condition is genuinely rare.
This example retains its original pale mint-green steel casing — the factory colour used on SEIKO maritime clocks of this era.
