Biography
Rob van Oosten (born 1963) began painting in his teens. Among other things, by copying the works of the 'old masters' he discovered what oil paint could do. However, his career did not go the artist’s route; he became a teacher. In addition, he continued painting. For many years these were still lifes with flowers, vegetables, and fruit, but he realized he couldn’t express his creativity sufficiently. That changed when he started to add sand to his work and began using tools such as putty knives and steel brushes. His work became rougher and increasingly moved toward abstraction. Rob draws inspiration from life. It can be beautiful, but it also has many rough edges.
Rob van Oosten’s work has now found its way into private collections in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Italy, Portugal, Spain, France, and Greece.
Recent sales exhibitions were at the ‘Tree Museum’ in Doorn and at ‘Amerongen Castle’.
