Description from the seller
ONLY ONE EXISTS IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this vertical-format work, Medsan portrays the young Goku from Dragon Ball, seen from behind, at the foot of the vertiginous Karin Tower, rising infinitely above a desert of red canyons.
The treatment blends adventure painting and Japanese printmaking: ornate frame, calligraphed title cartouche, swirling orange and violet clouds encircling the tower, mesas and rock arches inspired by the American West. The rock column shoots up toward the sky, crowned at the very top by a tiny pavilion. A magic staff on his back and a monkey's tail, the child gazes at the ascent that awaits him. The cartouche 孫空大留 / メドサン signs the work.
The piece embodies the initiatory theme dear to Dragon Ball: the test, the ascent, and the transcendence of oneself. The Karin Tower, which must be climbed to gain strength and wisdom, becomes the symbol of every heroic journey. Medsan captures its vertigo and the promise of adventure.
An epic and exotic piece, ideal for adding an adventurous, Japan-influenced touch to a contemporary interior of a collector who loves manga and pop culture.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a workshop of artists brought together around a living, plural contemporary creation. Established as a true artistic production space, the workshop operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on the projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. At his side, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo pursues a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, brut art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, produced, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
