With this square-format work, Medsan elevates Superman, the absolute archetype of the DC Comics superhero, to the rank of sacred figure by depicting him in a medieval church stained glass window, arms outstretched in a Christ-like pose above the city.

The treatment perfectly imitates leaded stained glass: colored glass set in black, a halo of golden rays radiating behind the hero, a deployed red cape, borders adorned with fleurs-de-lis and heraldic shields. The light seems to pass through the glass, illuminating the blue-and-red silhouette and the stylized skyline at his feet.

The work powerfully questions our worship of modern icons. By giving Superman the iconography of savior and saint, Medsan questions the place of myth and the sacred in the age of pop culture: what if our new deities were superheroes, figures of hope and redemption of our time?
