Alonso Cuesta - El silencio del trigo - XL

Rodrigo Alonso Cuesta (Burgos, 1982). Reside in Spain.

This graduate in Fine Arts from the University of Salamanca and in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Burgos has had a distinguished academic formation, complemented by experiences abroad thanks to Erasmus scholarships he carried out in Portugal and Belgium.

His artistic activity focuses mainly on oil painting, acrylic, watercolor, digital art and paper, where he creates paintings, drawings and collages. His style is characterized by a rich, vivid and expressive color range, as well as a plastic compositional style with dynamic and unusual perspectives, influenced by his passion for analog photography.

The themes he addresses in his works are “landscapes, still lifes and portraits…that’s all,” following the famous David Hockney quote. Although his work starts from figurative representation, he has recently begun to experiment with geometric abstraction, always in large, expansive formats.

This artist has participated in numerous exhibitions at the national level, with special emphasis on the north of Spain. For more than 20 years, he has presented his work in various towns, such as Burgos, Teruel, Vitoria and Salamanca, where his work is especially recognized. Additionally, he has won painting prizes at both national and international levels, demonstrating his talent and recognition in the art world.

Recently, he won the prize of the III Motril Art Contest. 2024.

In addition to his presence in exhibitions, his works are part of multiple private collections around the world. This shows that his work is not only appreciated by the general public, but also by collectors and art lovers who value his unique style and technical skill.
