Artist's Biography:

Antoni M. Sadurní (1927-2014) was a Catalan landscape painter born in Vic, son of a sculptor of Olot religious imagery. He trained in the postwar period in Olot with teachers such as Freixas Cortés and Pere Gusinyé, beginning to paint plaster saints before evolving toward post-impressionist landscapes.

In 1947 he was part of the group Els 8, which revitalized local culture with salons and the magazine Inquietud. His early work captured the Plana de Vic with influences from Ortega Muñoz and Palencia, moving beyond bucolism toward a vigorous schematism.

Provincial deputy of Culture under Samaranch, he was mayor of Vic (1975-1979) during the Transition, promoting the General Hospital, Institut del Teatre and other key projects. He presided over Unió Esportiva de Vic and Club Bàsquet Vic, and from his 50s he became fascinated by the Priorat after marrying Virginia Viñes.

He exhibited in venues such as Nonell and Pinacoteca of Barcelona, winning awards such as the Saló de Tardor de Manresa (1963) and Villa de Palamós. His recurring themes included Lake Banyoles, the old quarter of Vic, and the Priorat, with vitality in his oils into his later decades. His children —gallerist, painter and bibliophile— continued his cultural footprint.
