Perignem - Outdoor sculpture, Heilige met kind - 50 cm - Earthenware

A large modernist vintage ceramic wall sculpture of Mary with Child, produced in the 1960s by the renowned Belgian art studio Perignem from Beernem.

Flemish studio ceramics with a typical brutalist design from the mid-century period.

The elongated Mother Mary gently places her hand protectively on the shoulder of the Child Jesus. Both figures stand out due to the deep red, glossy glazed halos.

The body has a characteristic matte, rough texture in earth tones and oxides, typical of Perignem's work and the closely related Amphora studio (founded by Rogier Vandeweghe).

In good condition.

Can be hung indoors as well as outdoors.
