AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Hello.

I am Pierre ANTONIN (SP-Meteorites), leader of the Saint-Aubin meteorite research project in France since 2018, more info on my website.

Saint Aubin is an iron meteorite, classified Iron IIIAB with a magnificent octahedral structure and many inclusions of troilite and schreibersite.

I specialize in the treatment/restoration of iron meteorites, and since 2019 I have been working on a stabilization process by subcritical fluids (high-pressure/high-temperature deboronation/dechlorination) that achieves a level of stability never reached before. This meteorite, sold in a 9x9 cm box with a stand, has benefited from this treatment. My clients are private collectors, professionals and museums such as the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris.

All my iron meteorites are guaranteed stabilized, an authenticity certificate is provided, and I prioritize the quality of the work and after-sales service which is provided for all my clients.

ADVICE TO COLLECTORS:

PURCHASE: Iron meteorites are prone to degradation by oxidation. Before buying, carefully check the surface condition that shows the Widmanstätten structure. Be cautious if there are traces of oxides, this can worsen; prefer faces without oxidation and without heavy varnish, do not hesitate to zoom in on photos. On complete meteorites, prefer a look without pulverulent oxidations or drips, signs of instability; even surfaces that have preserved a natural patina must be dry and sound. Favor sellers who offer stability guarantees and after-sales service if needed.

PRESENTATION: All photos are taken in a studio with artificial lighting and not retouched to obtain a rendering as close to reality as possible. The scale cube measures 1x1 cm. To achieve the same look at home, I recommend a display case presentation with suitable white lighting.

STORAGE: Store your iron meteorites in the air or in a display case with humidity levels not exceeding 50 to 60% on average. If you are in a very humid region or by the sea, store your meteorites in airtight boxes with desiccant to protect them from oxidation.

HANDLING: Handle your meteorites preferably with gloves, avoiding touching the revealed faces (apparent structure) which can be contaminated by the acidic and salty sweat on your fingers.

Thank you for your trust. Pierre.
