Born in 1974 I am self-taught.
After an initial period devoted to sculpture there was a prolonged stop lasting almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I resumed with the "two dimensions" for time and space reasons, setting aside sculpture and dedicating myself to acrylic paintings.
I love painting abstract landscapes but recently I have been venturing into painting faces of people, both imaginary and real.
For me painting is "freezing time" at that exact moment; a painting of mine is often a faded memory and therefore my works are "worn, eroded by time". Sometimes the subjects of my paintings are glimpses of walls also eroded by time, with moss and mushrooms that - over time - grow on the surface.
Time that passes inexorably is the main theme of my works.
Coming from a beautiful experience with clay manipulation, I love sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs easily perceived by touch and by eye.
Recently, after several years in which my works were made from small pieces of recycled paper that formed figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wooden disks arranged in lines and grids repeated with mathematical rigor which up close seem to form an abstract colorful painting but the more you move away the more a portrait figure emerges from the many painted wooden disks.
Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all of my works when I reproduce female faces, precisely to give them a voice when they do not have the strength or courage to report that they are not their partner's dolls and cannot be mistreated or worse, victims of violence.
