2 volumes bound into 1 octavo volume of [2]-222 and [2]-271 pages, blue cloth binding of the period, smooth spine ornamented with a paper title piece bearing the manuscript title in ink of the period.
Good condition, fresh interior, fine laid paper, binding showing wear.
Original edition of the diary kept day by day by a prisoner detained in the Conciergerie, with abundant details. It is adorned with an astonishing frontispiece showing a guillotine in action before heads neatly arranged in small piles.
Many passages and words are redacted, sometimes masked with paper.
