The middle volume of Bonki Daizukan (Encyclopedia of Bonsai Pots), a three-volume Japanese reference series devoted to the history and variety of containers made for bonsai. Supervised by Masahiro Tokuo and published by Kindai Shuppan in 2006, this large-format volume contains 208 pages of colour photographs and reference material.

This volume covers renowned Japanese potters from the early modern period to the present, together with historic Japanese ceramic traditions including Owari, Seto, Old Tokoname, Banko, Akahada, Shibukusa, Mumyoi and Soma ware. Further sections document antique Chinese pots, contemporary Tokoname production and a wide selection of modern makers of small bonsai pots. It also includes reference material concerning Chinese pot marks and later inscriptions.

Across its three volumes, the series reproduces approximately 1,500 selected examples in colour, ranging from celebrated antique pots to practical contemporary wares, as well as examples showing pots and suiban display trays in use. This middle volume is a useful visual reference for collectors of bonsai containers, Japanese and Chinese ceramics, and those interested in identifying makers, kiln traditions and period styles.

Condition:
Pre-owned, in near-new condition. The glossy illustrated cover and interior are clean and well preserved, with only minimal signs of handling.
