Description from the seller
CALIMA (MMXXVI) - The Woman with the Fan - Mixed media on canvas
Mixed media, Acrylic paint · Pigment ink · Hand signed · 2026
The direct, magnetic gaze; a brunette woman holds a black fan adorned with red flowers. Her turquoise blue dress, scattered with pomegranates and scarlet flowers, matches the gold of her jewelry and earrings. Behind her, a kilim with red and black geometric diamonds provides a sumptuous, warm backdrop. On the right, a French window opens onto the Mediterranean: a man in a red shirt, seen from behind, smokes facing the sea and a village perched on the hillside, near a cypress and a scarlet designer chair. An opened pomegranate, placed on an inlaid side table, seals the scene between intimacy and the vast horizon. Everything hinges on this contrast: the woman who looks at us, the man who contemplates the horizon, two solitudes united in a single blaze of color and sun.
Technique mixte: acrylic painting on pigment ink print, matte spray varnish.
Varnish applied by hand, for the depth of blacks and the lasting protection of the artwork.
Support: premium canvas stretched on a wooden frame, ready to hang.
Format: 40 × 50 cm.
Signed CALIMA · Galerie Labo Joconde / Atelier Joconde · certificate of authenticity provided.
CALIMA is one of the creations bringing together artists Le Yack, Neo Pablo and Popsan within Atelier Joconde, a family studio where three sensibilities coexist: neo-realism, pop, and free figuration. Under the name CALIMA, the golden haze from the South, the Atelier explores a Mediterranean and Latin vein, drenched in sun, majolica, and color in thick impasto.
CALIMA brings together figures of women captured in sumptuous interiors, azulejos, embroidered textiles, flowers and fruits, where the woman dreams, reads, or rests, accompanied by a trusting animal. The through line: a dialogue between post-impressionist and Fauvist heritage and a contemporary pop gaze, where the pictorial matter enhances and transfigures the printed image.
Each work is a unique piece.
