A young rider turns toward us, captured in the moment, his clear gaze cast over his shoulder. His large black felt hat is adorned with a sumptuous white ostrich plume, painted stroke by stroke, which falls in a luminous plume into the darkness. RODRIGUES is one of the creations bringing together artists Le Yack, Neo Pablo and Popsan within Atelier Joconde, a family studio where three sensibilities coexist: neo-realism, pop, and free figuration. Under the name RODRIGUES, the Studio returns to the historicist portrait art and the grand tradition of old masters: chiaroscuro, velvet and brocades, soft light and Renaissance nobility.
RODRIGUES brings together portraits in the masters’ manner, noble figures seized in the shadows, adorned with precious fabrics, illuminated by intimate light. The through-line: a dialogue between the heritage of ancient painting and a contemporary gaze, where the pictorial matter enhances and transfigures the printed image.
Each work is a unique piece.
