Erasmo di Valvasone - La Caccia - 1808

The lot features an interesting antique volume titled "La Caccia"—a poem by Erasmo di Valvasone—published in Milan in 1808 by the famous "Società Tipografica de' Classici Italiani" (Contrada di Santa Margherita, No. 1118). It is a prestigious and elegant nineteenth-century edition of one of the greatest masterpieces of Italian hunting literature, originally written in the late sixteenth century. The didactic poem describes in five cantos the techniques, traditions, and the ancient charm of the art of hunting.
The volume presents itself in generally good condition for a book of more than two centuries. The title page is sharp and clearly legible; only a circular damp stain on the lower right margin is noted (well visible in the photo) which does not touch the text and does not impair reading. Interior clean and crisp. A piece of great charm, dimensions 20x13x2 cm.
