La Comida de Palacio is a 17th‑century Dutch Baroque oil on canvas interior scene from the Netherlands, sold with a carved gilded frame.
Description from the seller
Title: Palace Meal
School: Dutch School (XVII)
Style: Dutch Baroque genre painting
Technique: Oil on re-stretched canvas
A genre scene of notable influence from Dutch Baroque painting in which a group of aristocratic figures and servants share a meal inside palace architecture. The composition unfolds in a space of great perspectival depth, marked by monumental arches and columns that lend solemnity and stage balance to the scene. The characters are arranged around a table covered with a white cloth, captured in natural and conversational attitudes, while a female figure in the foreground adds compositional dynamism through the richness of the colors of her garments.
The work stands out for its refined lighting treatment and the careful rendering of fabrics, furniture and decorative elements, characteristic resources of seventeenth-century Dutch painting. The large ornamental urn located on the right acts as an architectural counterpoint and reinforces the noble character of the scene. The earthy palette and light contrasts create an intimate and elegant atmosphere, typical of interior Baroque scenes.
It presents restorations and re-stretching.
The carved and gilded wooden frame features vegetal decoration and pearl moldings inspired by classical motifs, harmoniously accompanying the historical character of the work.
Measurements: 51 x 51 cm
Measurements with frame: 67.5 x 61 cm
Notes:
The work may incur damage during transport even with proper packaging. In such a case, we will need photographs of the damage to proceed with compensation. Customer satisfaction is always our priority.
Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by a surcharge due to reasons such as being outside a continental territory, excessive dimensions, or weight of the item. PremiArt will not cover this surcharge in any case.
Due to problems at the border with Switzerland, we are obliged to inform that shipments with more than 1 meter in length or height to that destination will not be carried out.
