Description from the seller

Giuseppe Montalbano (1940-2013) born in Tripoli on December 19, 1940, last of 7 children.
He had graduated from the Istituto D’Arte of Palermo and had immediately begun teaching at Sciacca, together with many illustrious artists who at that time formed a professionally prominent alliance (Nucci, Fisco, Navarra, Stassi, Nacci, Bruno, Fisco, Cascio).
In Montalbano's private life during that period a figure bursts in who would change his life: Lia Termine, the woman who would be his muse, his strength, his drive toward a career that would see him as protagonist, from the 60s to the 2000s on the art scene with solo and collective exhibitions.
Montalbano's painting is unmistakable. It embodies the soul of Sicily with the colors of the sea, sky, flowers, fruit, with the plains and hills, favoring a scenic layout in which the hedge, the fences, the wooden shelves, the shells, the spheres or hemispheres, the ethereal drapes of voile placed almost at random, speak of spirituality. The natural elements are an observatory for this artist on the disenchantment of the world, but also the reassuring cradle of the values of his home, his land, his culture.
The work up for auction is an oil on canvas, dimensions: 24 cm by 30 cm and depicts an olive tree, the early afternoon light immerses the viewer in warm tones that break down into the different stratifications given by the vigorous and elusive brushstrokes.
Simplicity and the stylistic setup recall the landscapes and still lifes of Van Gogh.
The painting is enhanced by a splendid solid wood frame lacquered in the style of the 80s.
Signature present at the bottom right.
In perfect condition with no damage.
Careful worldwide shipping with UPS, DHL, or FedEx courier.
