Description from the seller
Ajax – Grêmio – Original Japanese Toyota Cup poster – 1995
Very original Japanese promotional poster for the historic Toyota Cup final between Ajax and Grêmio, played on November 28, 1995 at the National Stadium in Tokyo.
Ajax participated as winner of the UEFA Champions League 1994/95 in this world final for club teams. Opponent Grêmio represented South America as winner of the Copa Libertadores. After 120 scoreless minutes, Ajax won the penalty shoot-out 4–3. Captain Danny Blind converted the decisive penalty and was named Man of the Match.
The poster features a striking Japanese design in the club colors of both finalists. In the center are the Ajax and Grêmio emblems, depicted as embroidered badges, against a gold globe. Also depicted are the Toyota Cup logo, Japanese inscriptions, the match date, start time, the Tokyo National Stadium, and the promotional logo for the 2002 World Cup in Japan.
This concerns only the poster; the depicted club emblems are part of the printed design and are not separate fabric patches.
Dimensions: approximately 73 × 103 cm.
Condition: very good to excellent for an original poster from 1995. The colors are bright and strong and the front presents particularly beautifully. No tears, holes, tape, or inscriptions observed. The poster has been rolled for storage and therefore shows some natural curvature and light waviness. On the blank back are some subtle age and storage marks visible. Please examine the detail photos carefully; they form an integral part of the condition description.
A scarce and visually impressive collectible from one of the greatest seasons in Ajax history. Especially attractive for collectors of Ajax memorabilia, historical football posters, and Japanese sporting artifacts.
The poster is carefully rolled and securely shipped in a sturdy cardboard mailing tube."
