Elegant trinket box made according to the traditional Japanese Yosegi-zaiku technique, famous form of artistic cabinetmaking developed in the Hakone region.
The entire exterior surface is clad with refined geometric inlays obtained by juxtaposing numerous natural wood species of different colors, without the use of pigments. The sliding lid features a rich mosaic of traditional motifs, while the sides echo different geometric decorations that enhance the high precision of the workmanship.
The box is equipped with a characteristic secret opening mechanism: to access the inner compartment it is necessary to identify and move, according to a determined sequence, some sliding elements integrated into the structure. This system, typical of traditional Japanese Himitsu-bako, transforms the box into a small puzzle as well as a refined object of craftsmanship.
The box is ideal as a jewelry box, tea caddy, box for small objects or as a decorative element, representing one of the most characteristic expressions of Japanese craftsmanship.
