Decorative bell - Belgium - Vintage bronze apostle bell

Beautiful vintage bronze evangelist bell (monastery bell / sanctus bell) in Renaissance style, produced in the mid-20th century (Belgium/Netherlands).

The bell is adorned all around with detailed reliefs featuring decorative foliate fronds and the Latin inscriptions and accompanying symbols of the four Evangelists: Mark, Luke, Matthew and John.

The bell has, through natural aging, acquired a beautiful, authentic dark patina that nicely accentuates the details in the relief.

Condition: In good, used condition with normal signs of aging. The bell has a clear tone.

Important note: The inside clapper has been replaced in the past by an alternative model and is no longer original (see detail photo).
