Description from the seller
Stunning, richly decorated antique bronze hand-candlestick from the late 19th century (c. 1880–1900).
This atmospheric piece is executed in the historic Neo style and is in very handsome, authentic condition. The square, stepped base and the long handle are adorned with detailed relief cast work, including classical acanthus leaf motifs and garlands. The candlestick has developed a beautiful, deep patina over the decades that perfectly accentuates its antique character. Unique collector details: Casting mark: On the underside of the handle is the original casting mark 'JJ' cast into the bronze. This points to a specific, high-quality European bronze foundry from that period and guarantees authenticity (no modern reproduction). Handcrafted work numbers: On the underside of the base are the original manually inscribed mounting numbers. This proves that all loose cast components historically belong together and were fitted by the craftsman at the time. Specifications: Material: Solid bronze / heavy yellow brass Period: Historicism, late 19th century Condition: Excellent antique condition, construction is sturdy and true, with a beautiful original patina.
A gorgeous and traceable piece for the collector of antique bronze or as a atmospheric historic accent in the interior.
