Description from the seller
An exceptional kinetic and optical object from the 1980s by Gioppè Di Bella (ZERO & MID Movement Circle)—a historically verified masterpiece autographed by the Italian master of optical art Gioppè Di Bella (Trapani 1945–2007). Created in 1987, this magnificent three-dimensional relief titled "Divisione" perfectly represents the maturity of the artist's aesthetic research into modular geometry and structural spatialism. An artistic concept and Milanese avant-garde that arrived in Milan in the late 1960s, Gioppè Di Bella developed his rigorous mathematical approach by diligently studying icons such as Enrico Castellani and Agostino Bonalumi, while also absorbing the interactive theories of the kinetic group MID. This specific work, "Divisione", departs from two-dimensional art, transforming punched-out structures and geometric cutouts into active physical spaces, animated exclusively by light and the observer's movement. Material in stiff punched cardboard with double canvas applied to a wooden/plywood board. Three-dimensional relief technique, geometric punching (Programmable Art). The back of the multilayer support constitutes an impeccable authentication document, with the artist's complete autograph documentation. Signed "Di Bella 87" in the upper left corner. Canvas dimensions 50 x 50 cm. Studio provenance. Condition and investment value: the structure is preserved in exceptionally vintage conditions. The spatial composition is completely intact and clean. This is a secure investment work, of museum level, by an Italian master of concrete art, whose market is undergoing a strong international rediscovery. Ready to be exhibited in the most prestigious contemporary collections. The lot will be properly packed and shipped with affiliated couriers and online tracking. For this lot, no shipments outside the European Community are made.
