AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
Old (circa 1850) carved teak niche for an oil lamp from Rajasthan.
Deeply carved sculptures and original colors (by the way, if you want to remove most of the pink paint to restore its original blue color, that's possible...). The metal hanging bracket is also original.
Dimensions: height 26 x width 21 x depth 7.5 cm — 2430 g
This niche housed in its cavity a terracotta dish filled with oil in which a cotton wick rested. These oil lamps typically burned all night.
Note that wooden niches like the one for sale are much rarer than stone niches.
The featured niche is in perfect condition and ready to illuminate your interior.
Antique dealer specializing in Asian arts, my positive feedback rate is 100%. I only sell antique objects acquired locally during my many travels. These are in no way reproductions.
To allow you to assess the quality of the item, I am including numerous photos taken from different angles. These photos are an integral part of the description.
Carefully packaged, this item will be delivered to your home by bpost Belgium. Ref: PB 9
