Official newspaper of the Lombardo-Veneto Kingdom.
4 complete pages (recto/verso), format about 45 x 32 cm. Imperial eagle with double-headed eagle on the first page and dry stamp "GAZZETTA CENT. 5. M".
Content of great collectible interest:
In the APPENDIX, article "Apparent Confirmation" of the discoveries of Sir J. Herschel on the Moon. (From the Memorial Bordelais) with transcription of Murray of London’s letter and details on the publication of Herschel’s work.
This is the famous Great Moon Hoax of 1835, the journalistic hoax started by the New York Sun that announced the discovery of bat-like men and life on the Moon by the astronomer John Herschel. A very rare Italian testimony of the spread of the hoax in Europe.
It also contains: INDEX, METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATIONS, TRADE - Public Funds, Arrivals and Departures, Today’s Entertainment, Notices.
