Description from the seller
SUMMER HOUSE
100 × 70 cm
Acrylic on canvas · 2026
Summer House represents an open architectural space facing the sea, built through a succession of arches, courtyards and shaded areas that guide the gaze toward the horizon. A large tree runs vertically through the composition and extends its branches over the architecture, while several pots and two suspended lamps introduce small domestic elements. In the background, the water appears framed by one of the arches, reflecting yellow glints that visually connect the landscape with the warm tones of the foreground.
The work is articulated through broad surfaces of blue, pink, turquoise, yellow and terracotta, establishing a play between geometric forms and organic elements. The repetition of the arches creates depth and rhythm, while the tree breaks the architectural regularity and provides a dominant natural presence. Inside and outside thus merge in a luminous space where the architecture serves as a frame from which to observe the landscape.
EXHIBITION PROJECTION AND VALUE OF THE WORK
Summer House is part of Mar Legón’s research on the relationship between architecture, nature and landscape, especially present in her scenes of villas, courtyards and spaces linked to the Mediterranean. In this piece, the succession of thresholds takes on particular importance: each arch opens a new plane and transforms the visual journey toward the sea into a central part of the composition.
Made entirely by hand in 2026, this unique piece gathers elements characteristic of the artist’s recent production: saturated colors, formal synthesis, well-defined contrasts and a spatial construction based on the layering of planes. The work reinterprets the imaginary of the Mediterranean house from a contemporary language, turning architecture into a space of contemplation and connection with the surroundings.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Mar Legón develops a painting practice focused on reinterpretation of landscapes, interiors, still lifes and figurative scenes through a visual language based on color, formal synthesis and the construction of atmospheres.
Her work transforms spaces and recognizable motifs into images of strong visual intensity, where reality is simplified and reorganized to give rise to scenes that oscillate between memory, imagination and contemplation.
