Paola Romano (1950) - Luna rossa

Original work by Paola Romano (Monterotondo, 1951 – 2021), Roman painter and sculptor known for the famous series “Lune,” exhibited in numerous solo and group shows in Italy and abroad, with works also present in permanent collections (Fondazione Magna Carta, Sale Urbaniana - Holy See) and repeatedly auctioned at houses such as Farsettiarte, Casa d’Aste Babuino and Capitolium Art.

“Luna Rossa” belongs to her most iconic and sought-after series, characterized by chunky, textured surfaces with strong relief, worked with a mixed-media technique on a circular panel, where the raw, volcanic texture of the “lunar crust” contrasts with wide smooth areas painted in bright red.

Dated 2003, the work is among the early pieces of the series, created shortly before her first solo show of 2005 at the Galleria dei Leoni on Via Margutta, Rome.
