Important original large-format work by contemporary Catalan artist Jordi Samsó, signed and dated in 1988. Titled on the back "Sortida laberint" (Exit from the labyrinth), the piece is an excellent exponent of the abstract neo-primitivism and graphic expressionism characteristic of Catalan artistic production at the end of the 1980s.
The composition stands out for its ethereal atmosphere, resolved through washes and glazes in blue, grayish, and ocher tones over which a powerful play of primary graphic strokes emerges. Samsó uses incised lines with a totemic cut that evoke the iconography of prehistoric and tribal art; on the right side there are schematic caprine figures with spiral horns, while on the left flank angular geometric structures rise up, alluding to the concept of the architectural and symbolic labyrinth.
The back of the canvas shows the solid provenance of the piece, preserving on the wooden frame the author’s original handwritten inscription with the year, the title of the work, and the workshop registration number (No. F-1011).
