Teasing is an ultra-realistic still life that makes formal precision and essentiality its distinguishing features. In the center of the scene, on a white plane, a light-colored ceramic bowl filled with peanuts and pistachios stands out. The artist defines with extraordinary realism the roughness, veins, and cracks of the shells, contrasting their porous surface with the smooth finish of the container.
The pastel pink background, flat and devoid of details, suspends the composition in a clean and almost geometric atmosphere, while a sharp light projects the bowl’s shadow onto the supporting plane.
The title Teasing ("stuzzicare") suggests a double reading: the visual reference to nuts as a snack and the very nature of hyperrealistic deception, which teases the observer’s eye by confusing painting and reality.

Biographical Extract
Francesco Stile was born in Naples in 1965, into a family tied to the Neapolitan painting tradition. His mother and, in particular, his grandfather, vedutisti painters, represent the first reference of a formation deeply rooted in Italian figurative culture.
At thirteen he began attending the atelier of portrait painter Carlo Roberto La Volpe, where he acquired solid technical training, deepening drawing, oil painting, the study of light and the figure. Subsequently he opened his own studio and devoted himself to Falsi d’Autore, focusing his research on the Seicento painting and on the Caravaggesque tradition.
In 1997, the discovery of contemporary hyperrealism marked a decisive turning point in his path. Since then he has developed a research centered on hyperrealistic still life in oil on canvas, characterized by a rigorous attention to light, matter, surfaces and detail.
Over time, technical precision becomes for Stile a tool at the service of a broader research. The everyday object is stripped of its simple descriptive function and transformed into a metaphor of contemporary reality. From this evolution arises his personal concept of “iperrealismo concettuale” (conceptual hyperrealism), in which fidelity to the real coexists with a symbolic and narrative dimension.
Throughout the years his artistic activity has been accompanied by several recognitions and awards, culminating in 2025 with participation in the London Art Biennale, where he presents Prospettiva, a work dedicated to the theme of migrations. For this work he receives the Chianciano Art Museum Award / Arts Club Chianciano Award, the latest recognition in a path studded with important attestations in the panorama of contemporary painting.
Francesco Stile’s research today develops in the dialogue between tradition and contemporaneity, between technical rigor and thought, using painting as a tool to transform fragments of daily life into images capable of questioning the viewer.
