Giovacchino Galbusera (1870–1944) - Rose

Giovacchino Galbusera (1870–1944) was a renowned Italian painter, famous especially for his still lifes and Alpine landscapes. He is nicknamed the "Raffaello of flowers" precisely for his extraordinary ability to paint floral still lifes, particularly roses, which are his most famous and sought-after subject. He studied at the Brera Academy in Milan under masters such as Giuseppe Mentessi. His painting has its roots in the Lombard Naturalism of the 19th century, but over time it has embraced influences of Impressionism and Divisionism. Galbusera's works are present in many bourgeois drawing rooms between Italy and Switzerland and frequently pass through auction houses as he is a highly appreciated painter. This painting offers the viewer modern and vibrant colors that, in photos, unfortunately do not fully render. Oil on cardboard stretched on panel under glass. This is an oil on stretched cardboard from the early 1900s (about 1920/1930) with dimensions 58 cm x 38 cm and including the contemporaneous frame, but it does not do justice to this wonderful painting; even the glass is contemporary to the period.
