Description from the seller

3 parts of the extensive 18th-century series 'Histoire moderne des Chinois, des Japonnois, des Indiens, des Persans, des Turcs, des Russiens, des Africains, des Russiens & des Americains'. Written as a continuation of the well-known 'Histoire Ancienne' by Charles Rollin and devoted to contemporary (18th-century) peoples outside Europe: China, Japan, India, Persia, the Ottomans, Russia, Africa and America.
The author, the Jesuit François-Marie de Marcy, published the work between 1754 and 1778 in 30 parts; the first twelve parts are by his hand, the last eighteen were continued by Adrien Richer. The work ultimately treated almost the entire non-European world.
3 parts of the new and revised edition of 1775.
Part 3: containing the continuation of the history of the Indians (612 pages)
Part 4: containing the end of the history of the Indians and the history of the Persians (604 pages)
Part 7: containing the continuation of the history of the Africans (596 pages)

The leather bindings are complete but show signs of use with dented corners and wear to the spines, hinges and front and back boards.
